British boxing legend, Prince Naseem Hamed, was very worried as he watched Amir Khan take a lot of punishment in the tenth round of Saturday's fight with Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas. Khan was hurt and took a beating, but managed to hold on until the end of the fight and won a unanimous twelve round decision. Hamed does not want to see Khan in those kind of fights.
"Fights like that shorten your career. The later stages of the fight were really, really bad. I just don't want to see him in fights like that. As happy as I should be for him being victorious...the fact is, I saw a close friend and a brother in there go through some tough times and I don't want to see that again," Hamed said to BBC Live.
Hamed is still very impressed. He has no idea how Khan was able to make it through the final three rounds of the fight.
"The saying through boxing when I was coming up - 'if you hardly get hit you have a long career and if you get hit, then you have a short career.' He must have a heart as big as a bucket of gold, maybe two hearts. To get past that tenth round and make it through the twelfth, I don't know how he did it," Hamed said.
