George Groves has fired a well-aimed barb at domestic rival Carl Froch by insisting the Nottingham man has no right to call himself the best super middleweight in the world.
Froch puts his WBA and IBF 12-stone titles on the line in an eagerly-awaited all-British clash against Londoner Groves in Manchester on Saturday. And despite going into the bout as a big underdog Groves is bullish about his chances - primarily because he does not believe Froch is as good as he says he is.
Speaking after a public workout in Shepherd's Bush on Tuesday, Groves said: "Why shouldn't I be ready for a fight against the second best super-middleweight in the world? We're not talking about me fighting Andre Ward, the number one. I know I'm still a little way off beating Ward, but Froch is a different story all together. Do I think I can beat him with 19 fights under my belt? Absolutely."
