The George Groves-trained Lucas Roehrig is expecting to fight twice more before the conclusion of 2025 after earning his sixth victory as a professional on Saturday.

The cruiserweight from London, England stopped Vladimir Belujsky of Slovakia after the fourth of six scheduled rounds at London’s York Hall.

Roehrig’s promise was such that he persuaded the retired Groves to become his manager and trainer – Groves became a self-managed fighter but had never spoken of a future as a trainer. Groves’ influence means that Roehrig is on course to fight on a Wasserman-promoted bill likely headlined by the junior middleweight Harlem Eubank in Brighton on November 21.

“One hundred percent,” he told BoxingScene when asked if he will fight again before the year’s end. “On November 21st, on a Wasserman show in Brighton. That’s pretty much guaranteed, I’ve been told. It’s just about getting an opponent now. That’s seven weeks. Then potentially another [date] before Christmas.

“The opponent we’re after is 11-0, something like that. That would be perfect.

“It’s totally beneficial [to remain so active]. From this fight I don’t need to get fit – I’m already fit. After sparring, I’m already in that state – I’m mentally ready. It’s not adding that extra pressure of ‘I need to get back into shape,’ or after [having] a month’s break. Especially when you’re only having eight rounders; six rounders, that’s the best way to do it.

“It was a good performance. I come out injury-free; just broke him down behind the jab; good defense and control; I controlled the range well; he was static and looking to counter. It was a good performance.”
