Super middleweight contender George Groves (19-1, 15KOs) is still hoping that IBF/WBA champion Carl Froch (32-2, 23KOs) will give him a rematch, after the controversial stoppage on November 23rd. After dropping Froch in the first round, Groves controlled most of the action until he was hurt in the ninth, but the referee stopped the match before there could be a conclusive finish.

Groves told the Swindon Advertiser: “My thoughts haven’t changed. I should be world champion right now. I’ve had those two belts taken away from me unjustly. We’re in the process of sorting that (the rematch) out, so to speak. My ideal plan would be to get a rematch. I’ve made that very clear. If Carl Froch is a man then I’m sure he’ll step up and give me the rematch.

“It’s the biggest fight out there for him. Commercially, financially he is no where near going to touch those aspects of his boxing life unless he fights me in a rematch. It could end up being one of the biggest British fights of all time. Why would you not want to be part of that and be part of history? I’m going for that, if not we’ll figure out another route.”
