STYLISH Z Gorres captured the vacant Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) super flyweight title in a one-sided fight against Waenpetch Chuwatana of Thailand Saturday night (Friday morning in USA) in Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines.

The Mandaue-pride fighter won a lopsided unanimous decision in 12-round title fight before a jubiliant hometown crowd at the Mandaue Sports & Cultural Complex.

The Thai judge Pinit Prayadsub of Thailand saw it 118-109, Philippine-based New Zealander scoring-referee Bruce McTavish had it 120-106 and the third official scored the bout 119-107 all in favor of Gorres.

The 23-year old Gorres (23-1-1, 12 KOs) scored the lone knockdown of the fight in the third round with left uppercut to the body.

Chuwatana, 10 years his senior to Gorres, used dirty tactics when he figured Gorres easily imposed a punishment with better lateral movements and excellent foot and handspeed.

An excessive holding in the 8th round forced McTavish to deduct a point against Chuwatana, who also warned for initiating a clash of heads in the fourth and gripped of Gorres’ head in the next heat.

Chuwatana wrestled down Gorres several time, the last one was in the 11th round. He took another warning by steppin on the Gorres’ foot at one point.

The victory set up Gorres, who is rated No. 2 in the world by WBO, to fight in the undercard of Marco Antonio Barrera’s WBC super feather title defense against Rocky Juarez on May 20 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

In the undercard, Jojo Bardon earned a split decision win over Rocky Fuentes to win the vacant Philippine flyweight throne.

Reigning WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight king Czar Amonsot and little-known AJ Banal shamed their respective Thai foes in 10-round bouts.

Amonsot dominated Decho Bankluagym while Banal stopped Dechapol Bankluagym in the opening round.

Other results: Robert Allanic won by UD over Robert Rubillar;Rey Caitom KO Joy Adrian in round 1; Nonito Jalnaiz KO Noel Acasio in the second round; Nic Banal won by ud over Rolly Baclayo; Frank Albia also won by UD over Joe Galamiton; and Glen Masicampo won by UD over Nori Iwatani.
