WBC/IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) is preparing for his upcoming defense, which takes place on September 10th at the O2 Arena in London.

Golovkin will defend his belts against IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, who is  moving up by thirteen pounds to take the fight.

Beyond the fight with Brook, Golovkin admits that his number one target will become the WBO middleweight championship, which is currently held by Billy Joe Saunders (23-0, 12KOs).

Earlier this year, there were discussions for a fight between Golovkin and Saunders. It never got going as Saunders was unhappy with the financial terms. Golokin's handlers have claimed that Saunders was overpricing himself.

The next move for Saunders is unknown. He's been inactive since capturing the world title last December with a twelve round decision over Andy Lee. He was scheduled earlier this year to make his first defense against Max Bursak but the fight fell through after Saunders withdrew with a hand injury. Then he was being positioned for the Saul Alvarez vs. Liam Smith undercard for September 17th, and that fell out after Saunders rejected several of the proposed opponents.

His promoter, Frank Warren, told BoxingScene.com last week that he's putting together a date for Saunders in October, against an opponent to be determined.

Golovkin is hoping to walk away with a big win next month - and then go straight to a fight against Saunders for a year-end unification.

"I understand my situation. I want the big money fights. Right now I don't have it. A fight with Canelo, impossible. Right now I have no idea," Golovkin explained to BoxingScene.com.

"My goal is the WBO belt. I want all four belts in the division. After I get the WBO, I want the big money fights of course. Right now my focus is on Kell Brook, but after this hopefully I have a unification fight for the WBO belt, because my goal is all the belts in the middleweight division."
