Kazakhstan's Gennady Golovkin has stated that he hopes to fight up to four times this year, and the 33-year-old interim WBC, IBO and WBA Super World middleweight titlist is eying a plethora of boxing’s brightest stars as he bids to make 2015 his biggest year thus far in his 33-fight career (33-0, 30 early).

Floyd Mayweather may have dismissed the chances of a Golovkin encounter, but Carl Froch has left the door ajar for a showdown under the right conditions.

With big names cascading down around him like confetti at a wedding, Golovkin has stated that he is ready to do whatever it takes to nail down the fights he craves.

“Froch is a proven warrior in the ring with a big punch,” he said when speaking to The Sun.  “He filled Wembley in his last fight with George Groves and I have fought in some of the biggest arenas in the US, so it would be a huge worldwide event and a big test for me.  I was in London a few months ago and the people there invited me to come over again, so yes, I would come to Britain.”

Golovkin also stated that he intends to break Bernard Hopkins’s record down at 160lbs, so any excursion to 168 is likely to be a one-shot deal.  He said: “I want to unify the division and break Bernard Hopkins' record of 20 middleweight title defences.”

One things for certain, “GGG” isn’t just going to sit around gathering dust and rust while he waits for the marquee fights.
