WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight world champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin has opened the door to a fight with the recently retired Floyd Mayweather - should the self-proclaimed ‘TBE’ return to the ring.
Mayweather (49-0, 26KOs), who announced his retirement last September after winning a decision over Andre Berto, had previously dismissed the threat of the Kazakh KO King as “easy work” to fuel the fire.
Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) responded: “He says I’m easy work. Please, bring… Show me the easy work! I love easy money and easy work! Please give me.”
Golovkin is willing to squeeze down to the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds to make the Mayweather fight a reality. Mayweather has denied any and all rumors of a possible return, but insiders are still confident that he will fight again in the near future.
Speaking to ‘Sports Nation’ on ESPN in the U.S, GGG continued: “I think Floyd and his father [Floyd Mayweather Sr.] knows I’m a very serious boxer.”
Sports Nation analyst Max Kellerman quizzed the feared puncher if Floyd would he go the distance should they meet.
Triple G answered: “I don’t like ping pong, his style. I like style like Oscar De La Hoya. I like true fights. I feel my power. I feel my style. I saw his fight against Maidana. I remember Floyd was dancing a little bit… I have a big chance [to knock him out].”
