Golden Boy Promotions COO David Itskowitch advised BoxingScene.com that there is no controversy with the scorecards for Saturday's fight involving light heavyweights Jean Pascal and Bernard Hopkins.
Pascal retained his WBC/IBO titles with a twelve round majority decision. Two of judges, Quebec’s Claude Paquette [113-113] and Belgium’s Daniel Van de Wiele [114-114], had it scored a draw. Steve Morrow of California had it for Hopkins, 114-112.
Following the end result, there was some minor controversy as there were allegations that two of the cards, which had it a draw, were altered with white-out to change the scoring of certain rounds from Hopkins to Pascal.
According to Itskowitch, the cards were only altered with white-out on the "copies that were given to the media." There were mistakes made when the originals were transcribed over to the copies that were issued to the media, and white-out was used to correct the media copies.
Golden Boy reviewed the original cards, and the individual scoring slips that were submitted by the judges.
"They checked out, they were fine," said Itskowitch to BoxingScene.com.
The WBC is planning to order an immediate rematch between Hopkins and Pascal.
