Tom Loeffler, promoter of IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkib, says 50-year-old living legend Bernard Hopkins is not on their agenda at the moment - but that could change in the future, although Hopkins is not expected to fight for too much longer.

Hopkins last fight came in November, when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision to division ruler Sergey Kovalev.

The 27-year veteran (55-7-2, 32 KOs) would like to get Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) in the ring at a catch-weight in early 2016. Hopkins appears to be wiling to move down as low as the super middleweight limit of 168-pounds.

But Golovkin's current mission is to capture every world title at 160-pounds.

“That would be interesting. I think the fans would like to see it, you know, Gennady has 20 knockouts in a row, and Bernard would be the biggest fighter Gennady’s ever fought, and by far the most experienced fighter,” Loeffler said to USA Today. “We’ve all got respect for Bernard, but at this time our priority is to unify the middleweight division. But we don’t want to rule it out in the future.”

“This is no slight at all against Bernard. If there’s an opportunity to come up in the future, where it fits Gennady’s schedule, and fits Bernard’s schedule, it would certainly be a fight we would entertain.”
