Gervonta Davis has been accused by a former girlfriend of battery, kidnapping and three additional counts stemming from an alleged incident that occurred earlier this week in Miami.
In a civil case filed Thursday in Miami-Dade County, Florida, Courtney Rossel claimed Davis, a three-division champion and current lightweight titleholder, entered the nightclub where she worked in the early morning hours of Monday, October 27, and attacked her. The filing describes Davis as having choked, grabbed and pushed Rossel, and hit her in the back of the head.
The complaint, first reported by Baller Alert, accuses Davis of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Rossel, through her attorneys Richard C. Wolfe and Jeff C. Chukwuma, has also filed for a domestic violence injunction, Wolfe told BoxingScene on Thursday.
Davis, who has previously been arrested on multiple occasions for domestic violence, is described in the suit as someone who “has a propensity and pattern of violence upon women.” It also claims that Davis had been violent toward Rossel – even threatening to kill her on more than one occasion – on at least four other occasions before Monday’s alleged incident.
Davis, who has a professional record of 30-0-1 (28 KOs), is scheduled to face Jake Paul in a highly publicized exhibition match on November 14 in Miami that will be broadcast on Netflix.
