George Groves and Martin Murray will meet next month.

The already announced all-British showdown between the two super-middleweights, which is set to take place on June 25, will be screened exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Groves (23-3, 18 KOs) will defend his WBA International crown against former four-time world title challenger Murray (33-3-1, 16 KOs).

But their blockbuster clash on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s first IBF heavyweight world title defence against undefeated American Dominic Breazeale at London’s O2 Arena has now been handed extra significance.

The winner of the fight will be in pole position to challenge Giovanni De Carolis for his regular WBA super-middleweight belt, which he defends against Tyron Zeuge on July 16 in Berlin, Germany.

Boxing Scene understands the fight, which arguably could top a bill in its own right, has been approved as a final eliminator for global honours and the victor will be installed as the number one mandatory challenger in the WBA’s rankings at 168 pounds.

Groves-Murray is flanked a British middleweight title fight between holder Chris Eubank Jr. and WBC International titlist Tom Doran.

Also on the bill, Dillian Whyte –– who has recently signed a five-fight deal with Matchroom –– will return to the ring for the first time since December, when he was stopped at the hands of Joshua, Conor Benn will fight for the third time as a professional and John Wayne Hibbert will face Andrea Scarpa for the vacant WBC Silver super-lightweight title.

And there is action for Ted Cheeseman and new Matchroom signing Felix Cash, who will make his debut having left Team GB.
