Hall of Famer George Foreman could see IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17KOs) becoming one of the greatest heavyweights of all-time. Foreman, a two-time world champion, faced some of the greatest heavyweights who ever laced up a pair of gloves and he sees Hall of Fame potential in the 2012 Olympic gold medal winner.

Joshua is slated to return with a voluntary defense on December 10th in Manchester.

There were serious negotiations to face Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53KOs) on the date. The fight fell out on Monday after Klitschko suffered a minor calf injury and the WBA's inability to render a decision on sanctioning the fight. The WBA title was vacated a few weeks ago by Tyson Fury.

Joshua is now targeting the fight for next spring. The World Boxing Association has yet to make a ruling on whether or not they intend to approve Joshua-Klitschko for the vacant belt. There is also the issue with Lucas Browne having a legal claim to fight for the title next.

Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, wants to stage the fight on a date in March or April, and is currently in talks with Millennium Stadium [now the Principality Stadium] to stage the event. If a deal comes together, Showtime is expected to televise in the United States and Sky Sports Box Office in the UK, with RLT handling Germany.

"While waiting on the WBA and with Klitschko's injury, it was a non-starter," said Hearn. "Let's get this over the line for March or April. We will announce that fight for the spring and give it the build-up it deserves - probably take it to a stadium as well. I'm certain it will happen in the spring. We are in talks with the Millennium Stadium about their dates in March and April - it has a roof and it can be a bit nippy in London in March or April."

Foreman warns that Joshua must stay focused or he could easily suffer his first career defeat at the hands of Klitschko.

"Anthony Joshua has all the tools to become one of the greatest heavyweights of all time, but complacency and over-confidence could make Klitschko easily win. Joshua has got the right jab, the right combination and he’s an athlete. I like that look," Foreman told The Sun.
