Discoteca The City, Cancun, Mexico - Heavyweight prospect George "Monk" Foreman (16-0, 15KOs) stopped overmatched David Ferraez in three rounds. The son of the legendary George Foreman left a good impression on the audience.
In the most anticipated fight on the card, flyweight Wilbert Uicab (36-7-1, 18KOs) won a twelve round majority decision over Oscar Balnquet. In a very close contest, the judges had it 115-113, 115-113 and 114-114. There were several head clashes which caused injuries to both boxers in the fight. Blanquet appeared to be on the road to victory, but allowed Uicab to get in the necessary work to steal certain rounds on the scorecards.
The fights were held as part of the WBC's ongoing annual convention in Cancun.
