Former two-division champion Danny Garcia (33-1, 19 KOs) is not harboring any bad feelings for Keith Thurman.

Last March, Thurman handed Garcia his first career defeat with a twelve round split decision at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. In the process, Thurman unified the WBC, WBA welterweight titles.

Garcia is back in the ring on Saturday night, when he faces Brandon Rios (34-3-1, 25 KOs) in a twelve round welterweight bout on Saturday night in Las Vegas.

According to Garcia, he wanted a rematch and Thurman rejected him.

"I don't blame Keith Thurman for not wanting to fight me again. I wouldn't want to fight me two times in row. My journey and my superstardom start again on Saturday night. My job then is to show the work and that I'm still one of the superstars of this sport," Garcia said.

Thurman is scheduled to fight again on May 19th against an opponent to be determined. After suffering an elbow injury, he's been out of the ring since beating Garcia. Thurman has openly rejected fighting anyone even close to the top ten for his return fight.

If he secures a win over Rios, he will bring himself a step close to a rematch with Thurman as the secondary mandatory challenger.

Shawn Porter is the current WBC mandatory challenger to the belt and gets first crack after Thurman has his upcoming defense.

At only 29, Garcia is hoping to make up for lost time and fight a few times this year and the priority is to get in position to become a champion again.

"I'm 29 years old and in the prime of my career. It starts now. I'm ready to get back on track. I represent Philly wherever I go. I represent all Latinos all around the world. When you're a world champion boxer you represent everyone around the world," Garcia said.
