The 2015 season finale of Boxeo Telemundo will move forward with a new main event - Lopez vs. Lopez.
Ganigan Lopez remains on board to fight for the first time since his title fight loss to Pedro Guevara in July, but now has a new opponent. The junior flyweight contender moves up in weight as he will now face Juan 'Paisata' Lopez in a 10-round main event with a regional flyweight belt at stake (Friday, Telemundo 11:35 p.m ET).
Paisata Lopez is a late replacement for Miguel Herrera, who was scratched from the show due to undisclosed medical reasons.
"These things happen in boxing, but we didn't want to have to pull Ganigan Lopez from the show," promoter Felix 'Tutico' Zabala Jr. of All-Star Boxing told BoxingScene.com of the makeshift main event. "Paisata was available and willing to take the fight, so we now move forward and hope to finish on a high note."
Ganigan (25-6, 16KOs) came up short to Guevara in his most recent title bid and will now test the flyweight waters. The loss ended a five-fight win streak for the 33-year old southpaw who fights in his hometown for the first time in four years, almost to the date.
Paisata (13-3, 7KOs) has been out of the ring since last May and also moves up in weight for Friday's contest. The career strawweight from Veracruz has won two straight.
Also on the show:
Local super lightweight Luis Vidales (7-4, 3KOs) faces Martin Islas - also from Mexico City - in a scheduled eight-round bout;
Daniel Garcia meets Irvin Ordaz in a scheduled six-round clash of unbeaten local flyweights
