Light heavyweight Gael Haros Meza remained unbeaten Saturday night, knocking out Joel Juarez in the opening round at Papas and Beer in Rosarito Beach, Mexico.

Meza, who resides in nearby San Felipe, improves to 11-0-1, 8 knockouts.

Within 15 seconds of the opening bell, Meza dropped Juarez with a right hand to the body. Juarez would beat the count, but would go down again from another sweeping right hand to the body. Juarez remained on one knee as he was counted out at 49 seconds.

Meza had not fought since November 30, stopping Jonathan Hernandez in round 3. He has now won four of his last five bouts by knockout.

Juarez, who resides in Hermosillo, Mexico, drops to 32-42-2, 28 KOs. The 41-year-old has now lost his last 18 bouts.

In flyweight action, Christopher Rios improved to 6-0, 5 KOs by knocking out Aldo Delgado in the second round.

During an exchange, the 17-year-old Rios landed a left hook to the body of Delgado followed by a left hook to the head, dropping him to one knee. Delgado was able to beat the count, but referee Jesus Soto decided to wave the fight off, saving Delgado from receiving further punishment.

Rios, who resides in Los Angeles, California, made his pro debut less than one month before his 17th birthday.

Delgado drops to 3-7, 1 KO. The Tijuana, Mexico resident has now lost four of his last five fights.

Lightweight Jose Barraza (2-0, 2 KOs) of Tijuana stopped Alejandro Martinez (1-3-1) in the opening round.
