Cris Esqueda / Golden Boy PromotionsGabriela Fundora’s destructive path through the women’s flyweight division and Amari Jones’ increased pressure to become IBF middleweight champion will be showcased in a November 20 Golden Boy Promotions card in Indio, California.
Oscar De La Hoya’s company Friday announced a card at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino card to be streamed by DAZN.
As Fundora, 18-0 (10 KOs), mulls the pursuit of another belt below or above her weight class and Jones, 17-0 (15 KOs), bides his time before a title shot at new IBF 160lbs champion Aaron McKenna of Ireland, the pair will head the show to further their profiles and remain active.
Jones, coming off a third-round knockout of former champion Vincenzo Gualtieri May 22 in San Jose, California, will headline the card versus South Carolina’s DeAundre Pettus, 14-4 (7 KOs).
“I’m closer than ever to a world title and anything in my way is getting rolled over,” Jones said in a news release. “I don’t bring fear, I bring the end.”
De La Hoya said, “Amari Jones is next in line for a world title and is chasing greatness. Anyone with a world title in the middleweight division, beware.”
Fundora, who was raised near the Coachella Valley venue with her 154lbs champion brother, Sebastian Fundora, meets Jasmina Zapotoczna, 10-1 (0 KOs), in a 10-round bout for all four belts.
“It’s ring time again, and I’m ecstatic to be closing out the year on November 20 at the Fantasy Springs Casino the only way I know how, with a stellar performance,” Fundora said in the release.
De La Hoya added, “Having Gabriela Fundora defend her undisputed championship in her own backyard makes this night even more special.
“Gabriela is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in women’s boxing, and the Coachella Valley has watched her grow from a young prospect into an undisputed world champion. We’re closing out the year at Fantasy Springs with two of Golden Boy’s brightest stars, and I expect fireworks from start to finish.”
