Gabriel Flores Jnr wants to face Joe Cordina on December 13 – but the potential lightweight bout has not yet been cemented.

Flores is being tabbed to fight at the Adventist Health Arena in Stockton, California, on the Diego Pacheco-Kevin Lele Sadjo undercard. When BoxingScene contacted Flores’ team about his next bout, they pointed to an Instagram post from Monday.

Flores, 27-2 (8 KOs), is currently ranked No. 4 at lightweight by the WBO and No. 13 by the WBA. He is riding a six-fight winning streak, with all of his wins taking place in or near his hometown of Stockton, California.

Cordina, 18-1 (9 KOs), is a former junior lightweight titleholder whose reign came to an end in his third defense, when he was stopped by Anthony Cacace in May 2024. Cordina returned to the win column this July, taking a 10-round unanimous decision over Jaret Gonzalez Quiroz.

Flores was rumored to return to the ring against Lamont Roach Jnr, before Roach instead landed a pay-per-view bout against Isaac Cruz. Flores, who made headlines in the previous decade for being the youngest fighter at the time signed by Top Rank Inc., is now looking to reemerge as a contender.

Cordina, who is ranked No. 6 by the WBO, No. 10 by the WBC and No.14 by the IBF, responded to Flores with a post in his Instagram story.

“You just get yourself [ready],” Cordina shared. “I’ll be there. We are just crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s.”
