A microphone within speaking – or even shouting – distance is never a moment on which Tyson Fury can pass.
The outspoken, unbeaten contender is in his glory as he continues to promote his upcoming October 24 title challenge versus long-reigning World heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko. Their bout takes place in Dusseldorf, Germany, but the press tour hit London on Wednesday, giving Fury a chance to sell the fight to his home base.
Fury initially arrived to the press conference dressed as Batman, but vowed to leave Germany as the next heavyweight champion of the world.
“He’s getting his arse kicked,” Fury (24-0, 18KOs) promised in offering his take on how fight night will go down. “As confident as putting on my shoes in the morning… he’s getting knocked spark out.”
As if racing in as Batman and even knocking out The Joker for all the media to see wasn’t enough to take center stage during the press session, Fury commanded the attention of the room even when dressed as his normal self.
Shortly after guaranteeing a knockout victory, Fury even began taking requests on when to end the fight. When put on the spot by one reporter for a prediction, the unbeaten top contender answered a question with one of his own.
“What round would you like me to end it?” Fury asked, to which he was offered the challenge of ending it inside of six rounds. “Six rounds! Six rounds it is.”
Klitschko (64-3, 53KOs) did his best to keep a civil tone during the theatrics, though at one point questioning Fury’s ability to deliver a knockout finish.
Naturally, the 6’9” challenger had a response for that as well.
“You tell me - KO is in your name,” Fury reminded the longtime champ. “Mark my words, KlitschKO is getting KO'd.”
The highly anticipated World heavyweight championship clash will air live on HBO in the United States (along with a same-day replay later in the evening), on Sky Sports in the United Kingdom and on RTL in Germany, with whom Klitschko recently extended his long-standing relationship for five more fights.
