Britain’s Tyson Fury promised his fans and the assembled media a memorable press conference in London today, and he was true to his word.
The 27-year-old turned up in a yellow Lamborghini, donning a Batman outfit to promote his October 24th heavyweight world title showdown with Wladimir Klitschko, which takes place in Dusseldorf and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
“Who called for Batman?” he cried before taking a seat, the Batman theme tune had blared in the background as he made his entrance.
Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) took his role as the “Caped Crusader” a bit too seriously, at one point leaping off the top table to wrestle with someone who was dressed as The Joker before bundling his comic book archenemy to the ground.
The masked superhero then turned his attention to the defending champion and his team.
“You... you... and you,” said “Batman”, pointing to manager Bernd Boente, head trainer Johnathon Banks and Klitschko. “Next!”
Batman left the building moments later. Shortly afterwards, a suited and booted Fury showed up; he apologised for being “late” and took to his seat for the second time as a bemused Klitschko looked on.
Fury may have the confidence and swagger going into the fight, but can the undefeated contender solve the riddle that is Klitschko? We will find out come October 24.
