Moises Fuentes will get a chance to make history on September 7 at Palenque de la Feria Mesoamericana in Chiapas, Mexico - when he faces Colombian Luis De la Rosa (22-2-1, 12KOs). The fight will be carried as part of Solo Boxeo by UNIMAS. It has been confirmed that Fuentes (17-1-1, 8 KOs) vs. De la Rosa will have the interim-WBO junior flyweight title at stake because full champion Donnie Nietes is out with an injury and his return is not expected for several months. Earlier this year, Fuentes and Nietes fought to a draw.
No Mexican fighter, other than the great Ricardo Lopez, has captured titles at strawweight and junior flyweight. If Fuentes wins the WBO's interim belt on Saturday, he will match that accomplishment.
