Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch continues to predict a war of fists in his upcoming fight with Arthur Abraham on October 2. The clash in the third stage of Showtime's Super Six Boxing Classic.
Froch needs the win more than Abraham to stay in the tournament. Abraham has three points from his first stage knockout of Jermain Taylor. He lost the second stage bout by disqualification to Andre Dirrell. Froch won a close decision over Dirrell to grab two points, but then lost in the second stage to Mikkel Kessler by decision.
Froch wants to test Abraham's worth in the super middleweight division. Abraham is two fights removed from being 160-pounder. Froch thinks the fight could end early if he starts to connect with hard punches. He also revealed that if he beats Abraham, the first semi-final bout could come in the form of a rematch with Kessler to be staged in the United States.
"He's going in with a real puncher now so he's going to find out if he belongs in this division or not. If I start catching him it could be all over. After I beat Abraham I've got Mikkel Kessler in America, there's a fight I'm looking forward too and I don't think Mikkel Kessler is looking forward to it," Froch told livefight.com.
