The target date for the return of junior welterweight Frankie Gomez is March 21, Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz told BoxingScene.com.

Gomez is one of Golden Boy Promotions' most prized prospects.

Gomez (18-0, 13 KOs) has not fought since winning a one-sided 10 round unanimous decision over Vernon Paris on July 26 in Indio, California.

The former amateur standout made his professional debut in April of 2010. He fought a total of 12 times in 2010 and 2011, racking up dominant victories over average opposition.

Gomez's career stalled in early 2012 when he was arrested in two separate incidents, one for driving with a suspended license and another for drug possession.

Later in 2012, and after putting his legal troubles behind him, Gomez hooked up with trainer Freddie Roach. Gomez became more disciplined in the gym, not skipping training sessions and watching what he ate. Since then, Gomez has scored impressive stoppage wins over modest opposition in Lanard Lane, Prince Doku Jr. and Orlando Vazquez.

"Frankie has rededicated himself during these last few years," Diaz told BoxingScene.com. "He had issues outside of the ring. They were addressed and now he has looked better than ever. We look for Frankie to have a breakout year in 2015."
