Frankie Gavin moved to 3-0 (3) with an emphatic second-round stoppage win over Graham Fearn last weekend, the talented youngster then turned his sights to the man at the top of the MEN bill, newly crowned WBA light-welterweight title holder Amir Khan.
Gavin, 23, has told the BBC that would take a fight with Khan right now, despite the huge gulf in pro experience between the two.
“It's something I'd really be excited by. We both had great amateur careers. I'm still a novice but, if things keep progressing, he [Khan] wants to watch out,” declared Gavin.
“I wouldn't have turned pro if I never thought I could do it,” he continued. “No one's ever been a world amateur champion from Britain and I'd love to do both. I look at the way his career's gone and there's no reason why I can't do that. He's having a great pro career so far and so am I.”
Gavin’s amateur credentials are impeccable, he is the only British boxer to bring home a gold from the world amateur championships, the Brummie boxer is confident, but he will have to gain more experience before taking on the likes of Khan.
