Frank Warren, promoter for Tyson Fury, believes the upcoming rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder is widely viewed as a much closer fight than it was the first time around.

When they met in December 2018, Fury was only in his third fight after snapping a layoff of two and half years.

He was a heavy underdog with most experts and he was expected to become a knockout victim.

Instead, Fury put in a very unexpected boxing performance that gave Wilder fits over twelve rounds. He was dropped twice during the contest and it ended in a controversial twelve round split draw.

Now they meet for a second time on February 22nd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

"The first meeting was a brilliant clash but this one will be much bigger because people now believe Fury can take the WBC heavyweight title. The last time they fought Fury was written off because he had been out of the ring so long," Warren told The Mirror.

"But he showed that night in LA that he is the better fighter out of the two and he will prove it again next month. This is going to be the biggest heavyweight fight for decades. There’s just seven weeks to go until fight night and I cannot wait for the mega event.

"Full credit must go to both men for sticking to the agreed date. Wilder only fought in November so has barely had a break but he wasn’t prepared to cry off. While Fury suffered a nasty cut in his September win over Otto Wallin but never considered pushing the rematch back and just ensured the wound healed properly. Now we get the fight the world has been waiting for to kick start what will be a huge year for boxing."
