While the normal business of boxing continues for promoter Frank Warren, in particular looking ahead to his cracking November 30th show in Birmingham featuring three interesting British title dust-ups - “That’s what British boxing is all about” - and will be topped by Zolani Tete defending his WBO Bantamweight title against John Riel Casimero, the promoter also has to contend with Tyson Fury taking on “The Monster Against Men” Braun Strowman at the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) pay-per-view event ‘Crown Jewel’ in Saudi Arabia.
“All I’m looking forward to is the result of it and that he comes through okay,” said Warren, who himself is not a wrestling fan, to BoxingScene.com.
“It’s entertainment. Whatever people wanna watch they wanna watch, it’s their bag. And if they enjoy it good luck to them. Others like what they like and I like what I like. It makes the world go round.
“I spoke to Tyson yesterday. He loves it. He is what he is. He’s a larger than life character. He transcends boxing. Again, he was never promoted properly in my opinion and we’ve done a great job with him.”
Warren also told Boxing Scene there will be an announcement next week to confirm that British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois will headline his traditional December show which will feature a lot of their London fighters as well as a couple of new heavyweights that he has already signed.
“We’re looking for a fight that Daniel [now ranked 6 with the WBO] will learn from and that strategically will put him in a good position,” Warren said. “Tyson’s come out himself and said he’s only going to have three more fights. Joshua, if he gets beat (against Ruiz) it’s all over for him. Daniel and the likes of Joe Joyce [who Warren co-promotes] are going to be the next guys in.”
