Strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune, who works side by side with trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, is very impressived with the boxing talents of undefeated junior welterweight Viktor Postol (26-0, 11KOs) of Ukraine.
Postol is the mandatory challenger to WBC/WBA champion Danny Garcia.
The World Boxing Council ordered the two of them to fight and scheduled a purse bid date, but Postol was paid a step-aside fee and their purse bid was postponed until next year.
Garcia is likely moving up to the welterweight division. If he sticks around, Fortune expects Postol will handle him.
Fortune was very impressed with how Postol handled himself in the ring during sparring sessions with Manny Pacquiao, who was preparing for last Saturday's fight with Chris Algieri.
"He's a good fighter. Postol beats Garcia. Postol is an extremely versatile boxer. He's very, very good boxer. I enjoyed sparring the with Victor [and Pacquiao]. I think Garcia loses to Postol," Fortune said.
