Floyd Mayweather won his rematch with Argentinian slugger Marcos Maidana on a unanimous decision at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night. The 37-year-old's professional record was extended to 47-0, while Maidana's slipped to 35-5 as Mayweather retained his WBA and WBC welterweight titles. The judges scored the 12-round bout 115-112, 116-111 and 116-111.
After the fight, Mayweather was flooded with questions regarding a potential unification next May with WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao.
"If the Manny Pacquiao fight presents itself, let's make it happen. He's got a guy in front of him [Chris Algieri in November]. In the past, if you look at Pacquiao when he fought Marquez, he was too focused on Floyd Mayweather instead of the guy in front of him and you saw what happened," Mayweather said.
"I never think about Pacquiao. That's not my focus. I could care less what Pacquiao does. If it happens, it happens. I want to enjoy my time off. We don't know who we going to be fighting. We are not in a rush. We are the A side and we are going to take our time."
Another possible opponent is British boxer Amir Khan, who sat ringside at Saturday's fight.
"Of course, Amir Kahn would be a potential opponent," said Leonard Ellerbe, chief executive of Mayweather Promotions. "Amir Khan is a very good fighter, just like a lot of other potential opponents."
