Alum Magic Johnson isn’t the only legendary athlete who’s thrilled Michigan State upset Stanford in the Rose Bowl on Wednesday in Pasadena, Calif.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced on Twitter that he won $112,500 by betting on the Spartans to win the game. Mayweather tweeted a picture of his betting slip from a Las Vegas casino that indicates boxing’s pound-for-pound king bet $50,000 on Michigan State to defeat Stanford outright in the annual battle between the Big Ten champion and the Pac-12 champion. Stanford (11-3), ranked fifth in The Associated Press Top 25, was a 6½-point favorite, which meant Mayweather got great odds (+225) by betting on fourth-ranked Michigan State (13-1) to win without points.

The Las Vegas resident also tweeted a message that reads: Money Michigan State wearing the Money Green. Rose Bowl Champions! I bet $50,000 to win $112,500 always bet on green!

Mayweather (45-0, 26 KOs), who’ll turn 37 on Feb. 24, is expected to return to the ring May 3 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KOs) is considered the frontrunner among Mayweather’s potential opponents.
