MASHANTUCKET, Connecticut— Promoter Lou DiBella, who works with Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s manager, Al Haymon - has told me and other scribes that the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. is nearby and will attend the Foxwoods show to watch WBC welterweght champion Andre Berto defend his belt against Victor Ortiz. Haymon also handles the career of Berto.
"Floyd is around here, Floyd is coming to this fight," DiBella just said.
Another source said 10 ringside tickets are being held at VIP will call in Mayweather's name.
Soon after speaking to DiBella, I chatted briefly with Mayweather's slick adviser, Al Haymon and with HBO Sports President Ross Greenburg.
"You know Floyd, he just might show up," Haymon said. "But you never know..."

Haymon smiled brightly which I take as a positive sign that Floyd will be in the house.
"They say that Floyd may be coming," Greenburg said. "We'll see what happens if that happens."
Greenburg said that a Mayweather ringside appearance would certainly be newsworthy.
Adding fuel to the story is the fact that Mayweather has spent recent days in New York, going to a Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden and hanging out with his rap star pal, 50 Cent.
The rapper owns a mega mansion not far from here, a palatial house in the Hartford suburb of Farmington, formerly owned by Iron Mike Tyson.
