Former three division champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad fully supports the idea of a rematch between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito. The controversial Mexican boxer knocked out Cotto in the eleventh round in 2008. There are ongoing discussions to stage a rematch on July 16 in either Las Vegas or New Jersey.

Trinidad was knocked out by Bernard Hopkins in 2001. For many years he tried to get a rematch without success. He advised Cotto to make the rematch while the opportunity is there.

"I think it's a good fight for him. This will remove all of these doubts (that people have left) out there. Cotto vs Margarito is a fight between the champion and challenger, and both of them lost to Manny Paquiao. Hopkins never wanted to give me a rematch. I never said no," Trinidad told Jose Ortuzar.
