MGM Grand, Las Vegas, NV - Earlier today WBA junior middleweight interim champion Erislandy "The American Dream" Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs) met with the media after making his arrival to the venue that will host his Showtime pay-per-view showdown against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs) on Saturday.
Golden Boy President Oscar De La Hoya has spent a lot of time in Alvarez's training camp and has publicly offered his support for Canelo who is under contract with De La Hoya's company. Lara has fought on Golden Boy cards for the majority of his career but currently doesn't have a promotional contract with the company.
When asked for his reaction to De La Hoya's support for his rival, Lara took the comments in stride and said that Oscar can't help him in the ring. He did however take a jab at the former 10 time champion and said that he wouldn't mind at all if De La Hoya wanted to get in the ring with him as well.
"It doesn't bother me at all. I am fighting Canelo, not Oscar. Canelo is the one in the ring but if Oscar wants to get in the ring I will bust him in the mouth too," said Lara.
