Erika Cruz, the featherweight world of the World Boxing Association (WBA), is eager to get in the ring with unified champion Amanda Serrano - in what would set up a clash to establish an undisputed beltholder in the weight class.

Serrano currently holds the featherweight titles of the of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), the World Boxing Council (WBC), the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the International Boxing Organization (IBO).

“Hopefully it will be neutral and in equal conditions for both. That is, the same treatment and a fair payment for me."

Serrano was in action last month in England, when she outpointed Sarah Mahfoud to add the IBF title around her waist.

Immediately after that fight, the president of the WBA, Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, indicated to that he was working with the organization's legal team to make the fight between Serrano and Cruz a mandatory clash.

Cruz, 32, has no objections.

"I'm looking forward to that fight," Cruz assured.

Cruz – who has a record of 15-1 and 3 KO's – was champion crowned in April of last year by defeating Jelena Mrdjenovich by technical decision.

She then successfully defended against Melissa Esquivel last November and against Mrdjenovich as recently as September. Both fights were in Mexico.

Serrano, for her part, has a record of 43-2-1 and 30 knockouts and prior to the fight against Mahfoud, had a historic brawl against undefeated 135-pound absolute champion, Katie Taylor.

The Puerto Rican fighters aspires to face Taylor in a rematch in 2023, when both are undisputed champions in their respective divisions.

"I'm missing a title, the WBA," said Serrano. “This is our moment to make history and become the undisputed champion. We have the pieces of the puzzle. I want to become the first undisputed champion of the Island. So let's do it. Let's go."
