Mayweather Promotions CEO, Leonard Ellerbe, took a swing at Manny Pacquiao will defending Floyd Mayweather's selection of Andre Berto as the September 12th opponent at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Mayweather won a twelve round decision over Pacquiao on May 2nd at the same Las Vegas venue. After the fight, Pacquiao said a right shoulder injury was to blame for his lackluster performance. Pacquiao had surgery a few days later.
Berto suffered a serious shoulder injury during his fight with Jesus Soto Karass in 2013. Despite the injury, Berto fought a war with one arm and was knocked out in the twelfth round. Berto also had surgery and was out of the ring for over a year.
Ellerbe feels Berto, who most view as a massive underdog, is a more dangerous opponent.
"We know, in fights like that, that Berto isn't going to sit back, and we know he isn't going to be complaining about his shoulder. We've done seen him fight with one arm," Ellerbe told Mlive.com
