Andrzej Gmitruk, one of the most well-known Polish boxing personalities, staged a tiny show today at OSiR sports hall in Grodzisk Mazoviecki, Poland. There were five pairs of boxers and remarkably all five fights went the distance and ended in unanimous decisions.

In the main event, Piotr Wilczewski (28-1, 9 KOs) captured a vacant IBF I/C super middleweight title with a unanimous decision over Sweden-based Abkhazian Karlo Tabaghua (16-3, 12 KOs). Scores were identical: 118-110 – across the board. In the main supportive bout, Dariusz Sek (10-0-1, 4 KOs) outpointed Czech Jindrich Velecky (17-14, 16 KOs) unanimously over eight with the same scores 80-72 on all judges’ scorecards.

Other results:

Norbert Dabrowski (3-0, 1 KO) UD 6 Gordan Glisic (6-11-2, 2 KOs). 60-54 (twice) and 60-53.
Mateusz Malujda (2-0) UD 4 Igoris Borucha (4-6-1). 40-36 (twice) and 39-37.
Michal Starbala (1-0) UD 4 Kirillas Psonko (3-9-1, 3 KOs). 40-36 (x3).

Kazakh bantamweight Zhanat Zhakiyanov (13-1, 6 KOs) got a successful visit to neighboring Tashken, Uzbekistan, several hours ago to defeat Uzbek national champion Bahyt Abdurahimov (4-6, 1 KO) unanimously over ten and to capture the so-called WBC ABCO continental belt. Interestingly, Zhakiyanov defeated Abdurahimov twice with UD 4 back in 2008.

Kira Plotnikova, Russian female promoter and a spouse of late Alexey Plotnikov, staged semi-finals of the annual Kostya Tszyu Cup (also known as the Supercup) at Circus in Tyumen, Russia, on cold Friday night.

In the first semi-final, Dmitry Mikhailenko (9-0, 2 KOs) outpointed Albert Valeev (9-4, 3 KOs) unanimously over four. In the second part, 2010 KT Cup prime sensation Alexey Glukhov (3-0, 1 KO) moved to the finals with a sensational first-round blowout of usually durable Fedor Mushtranov (4-3, 2 KOs). Glukhov made his debut during the tournament and in his second pro fight soundly defeated world-ranked lightweight Dmitry Ganiev.

Also, in a non-tourney affair, Maxim Smirnov (7-3-2, 3 KOs) outpointed Kenyan James Onyango (6-2-1, 6 KOs) unanimously over six.

German Titov, Russian top promoter, comes back to his citadel in Casino Vodoley (Ekaterinburg, Russia) on Wednesday, December 15, to give back to both local boxing community and to E-burg fight fans as well as to celebrate the New Year in advance. There will be seven six-round and eight-round fights, which are destined to feature several rising prospects and a couple of established world-ranked fighters.

In the first eight-rounder, rising super middleweight Maks Limonov (13-0, 8 KOs) takes on honorable journeyman Artem Vychkin (8-27, 2 KOs). In another fight, scheduled for eight rounds, Egis Klimas’ promoted light heavyweight Sergey Kovalev makes his Russian debut (sorts of – he debuted as a pro and fought until now only in America) against crowd-pleasing Karen Avetisyan (3-2-1, 1 KO).

There will be five six-rounders to please local fight fans. Dmitry Ganiev (12-1-1, 5 KOs) returns to the ring against Russia-based Kyrgyz Shavkhat Madaminov (9-3, 3 KOs) for the first time since his loss to Alexey Glukhov. Ruslan Khayrtdinov (7-0, 2 KOs) test his skills against Vadim Sufianov (6-11-1, 2 KOs). Super featherweight talent Theodoros (Fedor) Papazov (5-0, 4 KOs) takes on durable journeyman Alexey Shorokhov (3-5, 3 KOs). Belarussian Andrey Isaev (22-2, 7 KOs) steps down in weight to super bantamweight waters and will test himself against upset master Sergey Yurovskikh (6-9-2, 1 KO). Finally, light heavyweight bomber Roman Simakov (13-1-1, 8 KOs) looks for his fifth win this year against undefeated Gennady Maximov (3-0, 2 KOs).

Vyacheslavs Ovsyannikovs from Latvia staged a tiny tournament tonight at Pharaon night club in Riga, Latvia. The most interesting part of it was a super middleweight tournament between four fighters staged in a single day. Here are the results:

1. Raimonds Palidzs (1-1) PTS 4 Aleksandrs Radjuks (1-2-1, 1 KO). Score was 39-37.
2. Anton Sjomkin (9-2, 8 KOs) TKO 4 Maksim Semyonovs (0-3). Time was 2:06.
In the final, Estonian hard-hitter Sjomkin (now 10-2, 9 KOs) stopped Palidzs (1-2) in two rounds. Palidzs failed to come for round two.

Featherweight Ayup Arsaev saw his record improved from “not bad” 10-1, 6 KOs, to the perfect (11-0, 7 KOs). On Sep. 25 Arsaev was originally disqualified for knocking his opponent Zohid Hudayberdiev (16-0, 8 KOs) after the “stop” command. Later this decision was overruled by the special commission of the Professional Boxing Federation of Russia as “the command was shouted from the other corner by referee Alexander Kalinkin”.

Interestingly, Arsaev was firstly set to fight fellow colleague Vyacheslav Gusev (17-2, 4 KOs) on Dec. 5. That bout was long discussed but never came into fruition for a number of issued. Gusev has reportedly fought Bairam Mukhamedov (3-4, 1 KO) instead and, according to some reports, lost a split decision to him. This fight has never entered any record books or BoxRec but it was mentioned in local media.
