According to Francisco 'Paco' Valcárcel, president of the WBO, Sergei Dzinziruk (37-1, 23KOs) is going to get stripped of his junior middleweight title. The champion has not made a defense since last May's TKO of Daniel Dawson. He moved up to middleweight and was knocked out by WBC champion Sergio Martinez in March of this year. He was scheduled to face mandatory challenger Lukas Konecny on September 30, but recently withdrew with an injury.
To keep the title picture moving, Valcarcel is going to order a fight for the vacant title between Konecny (47-3, 22KOs) and interim champion Zaurbek Baysangurov (26-1, 20KOs). The fight is expected to take place before the end of the year.
