Former WBO junior middleweight beltholder Lukas Konecny is set to return at the age 46 on April 12 in Prague. The 52-5 (24 KOs) fighter from the Czech Republic last operated in world class 11 years ago when he was outpointed by Peter Quillin in a bid for the WBO middleweight title. He's fought twice since, in low key bouts in 2018 and 2021, and he'll now return as a light heavyweight for a six-rounder with Tomas Bezvoda, 17-24-2 (11 KOs).
Patron Boxing, headed by Patrik Knopp, and Konecny's Czech Boxing Management will join forces to stage the event at Lucerna Hall. Atop the card will be Czech heavyweight champion Tomas Salek, 22-6 (13 KOs), defending against Ivan Balez, 5-0 (3 KOs) and another bout for the national title, at cruiserweight, when Viktor Agateljan, 12-3-1 (5 KOs), and Vasil Ducar, 17-7-2 (13 KOs), battle it out for the vacant championship. British fans may remember Salek getting stopped by Nathan Gorman and Kash Ali.
No longer scheduled to appear, however, is Ukrainian light heavyweight Daniel Lapin, 11-0 (4 KOs), who is injured and thus stablemate Oleksandr Usyk won't be ringside in Prague.
