Smithy's Gym has continued its run of success with its amateur boxing team over the weekend with Dylan Dhamu claiming a close fought victory in Brisbane. The win comes after a 9 month self-imposed lay off by Dhamu, 21, and against the same opponent, Aaron Phillips from Rebels Boxing Gym in Rosewood who beat Dhamu in his last outing.

Dhamu, the 2008 Australian Junior Welterweight champion said he made the move to Smithy's Gym with trainer Brandon Wood after he felt his career had reached a peak and the chance to train out of the same gym as Michael Katsidis and alongside Brendon Smiths talent rich young boxing team was just what he needed to get back on track.

"It's definitely helped my boxing, I'm learning alot there especially how to be patient and better defence and it shows when i can get a great win over an opponent that i had previously lossed to. Its a bit of revenge and i can see my hard work is paying off". - Dylan Dhamu.

Dylan's victory comes just one week after Smithy's Gym's successful debut at the South East Queensland Titles where Braydon Smith claimed gold and Gavan Hornery took silver.
