According to an article by James Howlett that was published on BoxingScene.com this morning, WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri is reportedly less than thrilled with the $1.5 million dollar (plus a percentage of pay-per-view sales) purse being offered to face Manny Pacquiao in November.
Rudy Vargas, adviser to top junior welterweight contender Thomas Dulorme of Puerto Rico, said that his fighter would be more than happy to step in and face the Filipino icon for the same purse offered to Algieri.
"If no one else wants to fight Manny then why not us? Dulorme is ranked in the top 10 of all the major sanctioning bodies and if Manny offers us that fight we would gladly take it.
"Dulorme is eager to give it his all and put on a great show for the fans. I know the fans here in Puerto Rico would get behind him and I believe the other Latino fans would too. Puerto Ricans and Mexicans are some of boxing's biggest fans and buy the most pay-per-views so I think Dulorme would help the event be a success," Vargas told BoxingScene.com.
