David Benavidez has no shortage of HUGE fights on his radar. In an exclusive interview with BoxingScene, Jose Benavidez Sr. makes it clear that David still wants the biggest names at 175lbs including Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev. Benavidez has previously said those are two fights he wants to make as he pursues more titles and major challenges. But there’s another name that could make things very interesting: Andy Ruiz Jr. Jose discusses the possibility of an all-Mexican showdown between Benavidez and the former heavyweight champion, along with David’s plans across multiple divisions. And with a potential Jai Opetaia showdown also building after the pair came face-to-face following Opetaia’s latest victory, Benavidez has some massive options ahead.
ProboxTV’s championship series is now on the ProBoxTV YouTube channel for $5/month.

BoxNation will show Grigory Drozd and Illunga Makabu’s eagerly anticipated WBC World Cruiserweight Title showdown from Moscow on April 8. On the same bill, 48-1 star Cesar Rene Cuenca is out to avenge his only career defeat in a tasty rematch against Eduard Troyanovsky.
The main event is a real potential barnburner, as the experienced Drozd will look to tame the explosive power of Makabu. The Congolese-born South African has thumped home 18 of his 19 wins before the distance, including stopping granite-chinned Glen Johnson for the first time since 1997; a feat that Carl Froch, George Groves, Chad Dawson and Tavoris Cloud had all failed to achieve in recent years.
Russia’s Drozd, 40-1, is without question the world’s premier cruiserweight right now. Unbeaten in 15 fights spanning 10 years, the charismatic 36-year-old will look to defend his WBC crown for the second time after claiming it in September 2014 with a wide decision win over then 49-2 Krysztof Wlodarczyk.
Cesar Rene Cuenca’s bid for revenge against Eduard Troyanovsky provides chief support on a busy Moscow bill. Argentina’s Cuenca, then 48-0, lost his “0” and his IBO and IBF World Super-Lightweight Titles when he dropped a surprise sixth round TKO against Russian Troyanovsky last November live on BoxNation, but now he has a shot at redemption when he faces 22-0 Troyanovsky.
The addition of Drozd v Makabu and Troyanovsky v Cuenca 2 improves a booming BoxNation schedule that already features a big all-British world title showdown between Terry Flangan and Derry Mathews and George Jupp’s interim World Title shot on Saturday night, as well as upcoming bouts for Andre Ward and Billy Joe Saunders’ first WBO World Title defence against Mad Max Bursak.
