As first reported by Dan Rafael, Dubai-based cruiserweight Badou Jack (28-3-3) has now been named "champion in recess" by the WBC. This paves the way for a fight for the now vacant WBC cruiserweight title between Noel Mikaelian (26-2) and ex-champ Ilunga Makabu (28-3).

However, the fight between Jack and WBC Bridgerweight champ Lukasz Rozanski (16-0) from Poland is still without date and site. This matchup was announced as "almost a done deal" by Polish sources in late July, and was tabbed to be promoted by Skills Challenge Entertainment in Saudi Arabia.

New York-based Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin (25-1-0-1) is now in Turkey for final preparations for his showdown against former cruiserweight champ Murat Gassiev (30-1) on Saturday in Antalya.

It's a very important fight for both men, who both have had it pretty tough for various reasons with fights far and few inbetween.

Wallin is 5-0 since losing to Tyson Fury in 2019 while Gassiev is 4-0 since his loss to Oleksandr Usyk back in 2018.
