According to reports in Panama, the bantamweight unification between champions, Nonito Donaire and Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno, is far from certain. Donaire's promoter Top Rank, would like to stage the fight with Moreno on May 28 in California. Moreno had a previously scheduled defense against Lorenzo Parra in Panama. It was rescheduled several times.
A leading paper in Venezuela issued a report which outlined the possibility of Moreno-Parra possibly taking place in Las Vegas in late April. How the discussions came about are not clear but the paper reports that American promoter Gary Shaw and Moreno's attorney Roberto Grimaldo are involved in the talks. Grimaldo would not confirm or deny the discussions with Shaw. He would only state that there are "several options" available for Moreno.
