Contrary to published reports, promoter Dino Duva says his fighter, Kendall “Rated R” Holt, is not a promotional free agent. “I have a valid enforceable promotional agreement with Kendall.”
Duva, who has skillfully guided Holt since 2001 (and even brought his career back from the brink twice, once after he was KO’d in the first round a mere eight fights ago and then a second time when he couldn’t fight for over a year because of chronic injuries), says he’d like to set the record straight, despite any claims being made to the contrary.
“Kendall is either not thinking straight or getting very bad advice. I will go to court to get my contract validated if I have to. Unfortunately, it appears that’s the direction we’re heading.”
Holt is scheduled to challenge WBO light welterweight champion Ricardo Torres on September 1 in Barranquilla, Colombia. “I hope Kendall wins the title fight and becomes the champion that we have both worked hard for him to become.”
