Promoter Lou DiBella has advised BoxingScene.com that WBC President Jose Sulaiman assured him that his organization will order middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to face Sergio Martinez, the WBC's Diamond champion.

Sulaiman made a few comments in an earlier news brief on BoxingScene, that maybe Martinez (47-2-2, 26KOs) should face Marco Antonio Rubio (52-5-1, 45KOs), currently ranked as the number #1 middleweight by the WBC - and the winner of that fight would face Chavez.

But Sulaiman told DiBella a Martinez-Rubio box-off will NOT be ordered by the WBC.

"Sulaiman has assured me and [Martinez adviser] Sampson [Lewkowicz] that Chavez will be ordered to fight Martinez next. If the WBC ordered Sergio to fight Rubio, he would return the Diamond belt," DiBella told BoxingScene.com.

Chavez defends the title on November 19th against Peter Manfredo Jr., while Martinez returns on October 1 against Darren Barker.
