Promoter Lou DiBella doesn't agree with the current pound for pound rankings found on most boxing websites and inside the pages of most boxing magazines. DiBella doesn't consider WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao as the number one or the number two pound for pound fighter in the world.

He admits Floyd Mayweather Jr., the WBC's welterweight king, is the number one fighter in the world. But, he says the star of his promotional stable, middleweight Sergio Martinez, is the boxer who everyone should view as the number two guy in the world. DiBella would love to match Martinez with Mayweather. The Argentine boxer is willing to drop down to a catch-weight of 150-pounds to make it happen.

"I think Mayweather is the number one guy in the world, I can concede that. I think if he fought Sergio he would lose and no longer be undefeated. But right now, then I say that the number two to Mayweather is Martinez because it sure isn't Pacquiao," DiBella said.
