Dereck Chisora has signed a new managerial contract.

The former world heavyweight title challenger and European champion, who is promoted by Team Sauerland, has a ring record of 26-6 (18 KOs).

Chisora is being lined up to face Dillian Whyte, should he get past Ian Lewison on October 7 in Glasgow, for the British title on a date in December.

And the 32-year-old, who scored a two-round knockout in his last fight in Sweden earlier this month, will go into a potential Whyte fight with another name on the team.

He has signed a management deal with Steve Goodwin of Goodwin Boxing.

Goodwin plans to “nurture the next steps of his career as he plans his route back to the top of the most illustrious division in boxing.”

And the move is one that excites Finchley man Chisora.

“It is important to me now that I get managed correctly,” Chisora said, “and I have seen that Steve Goodwin and the team are establishing their reputation for doing that.

“I spoke long and hard with my promoters, the Sauerlands, as well as my coach Don Charles. Don has known Steve for a long time and they have a close relationship.

“It made sense that we go with someone Don trusts and is able to give me the proper management to move my career on again.”

Goodwin also boasts names such as former super-middleweight world title challenger Frank Buglioni in his stable and he is looking forward to working with ‘Del Boy’ as he looks to get back to the top table of the sport.

He said: “Dereck joining us is fantastic news. We have always had a focus on bringing in talent at all levels and Dereck provides a new challenge.

“There are massive opportunities for him both domestically and internationally, he is an established brand in world boxing and one that we feel we can help provide guidance to.

“The talent of Chisora has never been in question and with the right management there is no doubt in my mind that he can be an integral part of the exciting heavyweight scene.”
