Oscar De La Hoya wants a rematch with Floyd Mayweather. He wants to match the two young stars they promote, Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis, respectively, to give the fans a fight that would catch a lot of attention in 2020.
This Friday, Garcia returns to the ring in Anaheim, where he will face Francisco Fonseca.
And if he wins, De La Hoya believes that the ideal fight would be against 'Tank' Davis, although there has also been talk of confrontations against Devin Haney and former champion Jorge Linares. This Friday's fight will be broadcast by DAZN.
"Ryan is ready for a championship fight this year. I have something to say: Mayweather is the promoter of Tank, he has people who work with him and he is his promoter. And if Floyd wants to give me a rematch, let's do it..... he has his fighter, I have Ryan Garcia, and if Ryan wins this Friday the 14th, let's make the fight. Promoter against promoter, fighter against fighter, it will be a big fight," De La Hoya said on The Petros & Money Show.
Davis, the current "regular" lightweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA), has had some legal problems, but in recent weeks he's not only been called out by Garcia, but also by world champions Leo Santa Cruz and Gary Russell Jr.
Davis is all on board with the fight, was he believes that he would handle Garcia quite easily.
"Let's do it. This year I will become super rich," Davis said on the social networks when discussing the possible fight with Garcia, although for now he does not dismiss the idea of a clash with Santa Cruz.
Gervonta has a 23-0 record with 22 knockouts, while Ryan has a 19-0 record and 16 knockouts.
