Left handed Oscar De La Hoya, who fought his entire career from a converted conventional stance, is passing on tips to Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, from what he sees in the style of Miguel Cotto.

Cotto is also a converted southpaw, who's strong left jab is more than complimented by a stunning left hook. While Canelo's payoff punch is his powerful right hand.

Cotto aged 34, defends his WBC middleweight title at the Mandalay Bay Events Center against 25 year old Canelo on November  21st.

At the Mexico City leg of their promotional tour, in the TV Azteca studios, former multi world Champion Oscar, who's the President of Golden Boy Promotions, and is promoting Canelo for this fight said:

"On this tour I've been talking with Saul and giving him advice. I myself switched over like Cotto. Strong left hook and a strong jab...but I know Cotto's weaknesses, because his weaknesses were my weaknesses."

"So I'm going to have a fun time going to Canelo's camp in Sand Diego, twice a week, talking to him, maybe getting into the ring with him, showing him some different moves and just come out with the perfect game plan."
