A few years ago, Olympic bronze medal winner David Price (18-2, 15KOs) was viewed as a rising hope in the heavyweight division for the UK. His career took a big hit in 2013 after suffering back to back TKO defeats to Tony Thompson.
He signed a promotional agreement with Germany based Sauerland Event and now he's back with three wins already in the bag in 2014, and a fourth fight to come in December.
Now another British hope is on the rise, 2012 Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua (7-0, 7KOs), who faces Yaroslav Zavorotnyi on August 30th. Price went the ten round distance with Zavorotnyi earlier this year. Joshua's performance against the same opponent will raise comparisons with Price and may even start the slow build of a potential fight.
"I think a fight down the line between two Olympic medalists, one gold medalist who is the new kid on the block and obviously someone who's been a professional a little but longer. It would be so meaningful. It doesn't get any bigger, especially at heavyweight. We are on friendly terms and have similar personalities. We like to do our talking in the ring. I like to see Anthony do well and vice versa. He wishes everyone well because he's a gentleman. But when it comes down to the business side of things, all of that is out the window. Hopefully one day in the future that [fight] can happen," Price told Sky Sports Ringside.
